The Sikh Heritage Museum of Canada is honoured to unveil a special pin for 1984 on the 40th anniversary. Much like the poppy, this pin serves as a symbol of remembrance and unity, honouring the lives and families affected by the targeted attacks of June and November 1984. The design of this pin features '84', cleverly integrating the Gurmukhi digits 4 and 8. At first glance, it reads as '84' in numerals, but when viewed from another angle, the Gurmukhi numerals spell '84', symbolizing the preservation of Sikh language, culture, and heritage.
In a collaborative effort, the Museum, in partnership with Khalsa Aid International and Khalsa Aid Canada, presents Lapata, an exhibition that sheds light on the ongoing impact of forced disappearances in Panjab. Featuring powerful portraits and interviews by distinguished multimedia journalist Abhishek Madhukar, Lapata invites reflection and remembrance.
Visit the Lapata exhibition on display at The Sikh Heritage Museum of Canada from October 27, 2024 to November 1, 2024
